Alex Haley, as General Editor, wrote the introduction.

There are many accounts of the Battle of Bunker Hill written by people who were actually there. As is often the case, many of them contradict each other. The account of this book is based on a combination of eyewitness accounts and the many fine histories written after the event. Where there was disagreement, choices had to be made about what was more likely to be true. ~ Editors.
