The brothers

The Tsutsumi family is Japan's greatest business dynasty. Like the Rockefellers or Gettys in the West, they have achieved a near-mythic quality. Theirs is the ultimate rags-to-riches story, a drama of cutthroat business intrigue and ties of honor, family rivalry, and the trials of wives and concubines, set against the turbulent background of Japan in the twentieth century.

Although the Tsutsumis are constantly in the media spotlight, they have been justifiably secretive about their business dealings and their complex private lives; no one has dared to tell their true story. The Brothers gives the first and only full account of this legendary clan, and in doing so presents a rare insider's perspective on Japan.
